Patrick Guerre was born and raised in Southern California. He was raised around family that had been involved with the arts for several generations. His Great Grandmother was a sculptor and had the most influence on him as a young child. His Grandmother and her sisters were all artists in their own rite and had almost equal influence. His great aunt was married to famed photographer Brett Weston and Patrick is to this day amazed at some of his contemporary works for his time. Patrick started painting and writing in 1985 after moving to the Sierra Mountains. He started experimenting with applications of paint and colors and amassed some 50 paintings by 1988. In July of 1988 his home was destroyed by a fire and he lost all of his works. In his grief he started painting again and has grown both as a person and an artist from the experience. His works show both devastation and life from those events. He currently lives in the quant artist community of Cambria, Ca. located on the Pacific Coast between Los Angeles and San Francisco. His greatest influences are some well known and not so well known artist's. These include but are not limited to Sam Francis, His friend Matt Aston from the Santa Fe Art Colony in Los Angeles, Chuck Close, His dear friend Lu Hong, Photographer Brett Weston, Frank Licsko, Ting Shao Kuang, Robert Rosenquist, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollack, Classical and contemporary Bassist Barry Newton, and of course his Great Grandmother Elisabeth Stone. Through these influences and many others, Patrick has taught himself to paint with no boundries and let all emotions be released through his art. His art displays not only a feeling of life, but a true appreciation of the inner self.
